About the event
The Village Hall Gets It’s Gardening Gloves On
Do you fancy going wild for wildlife, nutty for nature, bonkers for bees ?
Are you up for building homes for hedgehogs, boxes for bats, sanctuaries for swifts ?
Do you have green fingers, do you have a strimmer, do you have energy?
If the answer to any of these questions is YES (or even possibly YES) then YOUR VILLAGE HALL NEEDS
YOU !!!
While everyone loves our village hall, the grounds look a bit tired and unloved and need some good,
old-fashioned TLC. So we have a cunning plan and this is where you come in….
We want to give our gardens a make-over - and this isn’t just any make-over!
Firstly we want to:
- Cut back and clear the undergrowth (perhaps more accurately over-growth)
- Build new planters to provide a home for our lovely new ‘village herb garden’
- Get a new bench for tired little legs to rest and relax (as well as seating for children)
Then we want to:
- Plant loads of new sun loving and shade loving plants in all the right places
- Add some lovely flowers and shrubs that will attract all sorts of wildlife (the nice sort)
- Build homes for nature so birds, bats, bees and little snuffling hedgehogs come to visit us
Imagine it now…wildflowers swaying in the breeze beckoning in the butterflies, sunflowers lifting
their heads and calling the bees to come and visit them, the smell of fresh thyme drifting through
the warm summer air….
But we can’t do this without you! So over the Summer holidays the village hall will be holding an
Activity Day where local volunteers can get involved in making this dream come true. It doesn’t
matter how old /how young /how fit you are, there will be a role for everyone of every level of
ability and enthusiasm. We’re particularly looking for school children (you know who you are and
we know who your parents are…) who might like to take on a special project in our garden.
Families welcomed & refreshements provided!
Remember those bees need you !
